Blogger Site

After getting exasperated with the lack of customizaton I can actually do on WordPress.com, I’ve decided to open up a Blogger site here: http://sweetarchivia.blogspot.com/

I have yet to decide whether to shut this site down or try to move posts to Blogger, simul-publish on both sites at once thanks to the possibilities of LiveWriter…in any case would love any feedback/thoughts via the comments on this.

Decided it’s time to join Twitter! Find me here to get updates: http://twitter.com/sweetarchivia

Have also facelifted this blog so it’s easier to navigate. Tweets, recent posts, blogroll etc are all now on the right rather than stuck at the bottom of the page.

New Years’ Resolutions

Yes I know it is so typical to make New Year’s resolutions, but heck I figure why not?

I figure 3 is quite a handful to start with and I’ll be downright happy if I can keep all 3 of them:

1) Literature. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Reading is the ultimate form of escapism for me and an old hobby I realized I missed so very much…

My current to-read list:

How to Have Style – Isaac Mizrahi. He is just too fun to not want to read this!

Sense and Sensibility – Jane Austen. How can I be a true Austenite without finishing this book? Potentially I will add Juvenilia and Northanger Abbey to this list..

Wuthering Heights – Emily Bronte. This will be my challenge read since Bronte is not my style. But I’m resolved this year. I need to understand all the literary references to Heathcliff and Catherine.

The Big Four – Agatha Christie. I’ve always been addicted to Christie. Bring on the murder and mayhem, I say!

Harper’s Bazaar Magazine. I replaced my former Vogue+Lucky subscription, THANK GOODNESS. I was getting fed up with what seemed like an endless repeat of itself with Vogue+Lucky which seemed to have a very narrow definition of beauty. One that involved a heck of a lot of plastic surgery and not many women of colour, age, or even varying backgrounds.

2) Yoga. I’m aiming to up from once per week to twice per week. Sometimes it’s the only thing that that can get me to relax, my worrywart mind to shut up, and me to settle down. In short, I need to take better care of myself. My current fave is Kundalini-style Yoga from the Yoga Quick Fixes DVD.

3) Fashion. I refuse to give up my fashion addiction. Unfortunately that often bodes poorly for my savings account. With desperate times, it’s time to get more creative with what I have and be more picky when I shop. Of course, blogging about fashion is always my way of vicariously satisfying my addiction. Perhaps Mint.com will quit telling me I’m over my fashion budget for at least 6 out of 12 months?
