Shabby Chic – Tar-jay style

Lately I been busy decorating my bedroom and bathroom after being much inspired by the Simply Shabby Chic line at Target (cuz you know, I only pay $50 for the original Shabby Chic pillowcases AFTER I win the lottery). I was quite surprised how well a little English cottage linens and a few accents here and there managed to transform my otherwise rather drab natural wood Ikea furniture into a much cozier, softer affair.

The inspiration:

Shabby Chic White Duvet & Shams with Ruffle

Anthropologie Cirrus Bedding in Creme

Essentially going for the sleeping in a white cloud look.

Some recent (much less expensive) purchases I actually used:

Simply Shabby Chic Smocked Duvet Set

I went sans bedskirt and accented with a couple pillows to add a bit more color back.

Oh the thrills of satin frills

Bruno Frisoni Petrol Frilled Slingbacks

I was sorely disappointed today at the seemingly postponed launch of John Derian’s work at Target. In fact, John Derian-anything seemed to be missing both on the website and in my local store despite the 9/7 launch date. With my faux designer decoupage melamine tray hopes dashed I started browsing online of course and came upon the AMAZING satin shoes above. There’s also a somewhat similar bootie version also from Bruno Frisoni in Time’s Style and Design Fall 2008 issue (page 28) at much less expensive $790 for you penny-pinchers.
