Ella Ella lalala

Ella Moss ‘Cassidy’ Minidress in Coral

After purchasing the above dress from Nordstrom Rack in a burgundy shade and at a fantastic under $30 price, I have become a fan of Ella Moss’s amazingly plush jerseys. The dress you see above is a cotton/modal/Lycra blend that feels more fabulous on your skin than your average jammies. You will want to hug yourself all day… Seriously.

I currently wear this dress as my fabulous summer “sweatsuit alternative.” Great on girls with petite shoulders as the lovely gathered sleeves look a good bit softer and less military-esque on my body.

Some other items from Ella that I’m hoping will make it to the sale rack (or, better yet my closet, if I win the lottery):

Ella Moss Lace Slip

Heck if anybody can make a lace slip non-itchy, I’d place my bets on Ella…

Ella Moss ‘Laurel’ Striped Minidress

Sporty yet sassy.

Q & A with Tim Gunn

Gotta love Tim Gunn for his polished, sometimes biting, yet very practical Fashion advice. Happened upon a Q&A posted on the Liz Claiborne website with real, everyday women asking questions of him.

Another great source of Tim Gunn wisdom is Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style. Unfortunately I don’t have Bravo, but the website is my next best alternative until somebody starts posting episodes on Youtube (PLEASE! SOMEBODY!)

Inspiration: Lemony Snicket’s: A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Perhaps a bit late, but never saw the actual movie until recently. All sorts of forms of art can be a great source of fashion inspiration. I love the stylized, slightly dark, vintage yet not entirely period-specific look of Lemony Snicket’s: A Series of Unfortunate Events. It’s not surprising the movie was nominated for an Oscar in Costume Design in 2005.

I definitely covet Violet Baudelaire’s very lovely Edwardian blue, militaristic coat and could see that hanging off the racks of Anthroplogie.

And I am inspired by Meryl Streep’s fantastic gown. Although it would likely require some bit of “modern translation” to make it work as an evening gown.
