Fashion Rant: Rogan for Target Go International

After reading numerous blog posts about how amazing the Rogan line for the Target Go International line was (I mean it debuted at Barneys in New York), I decided to go check it out for myself at my local Tar-jay, darling.

I can only say I was utterly disappointed. I was expecting some high quality organic cottons and silks but instead found extremely thin silks, cheap looking clothing and ultimately possibly the worst Go International collection I’ve seen. Many pieces had uncut bits of thread still dangling off them. Even the denim zebra mini which I thought looked very cute online looked hideous in person. The green gauze leopard print blazer with numerous rave reviews on Target’s website did indeed feel soft, but it looked old, wrinkley and possibly slightly tacky?

So would I buy any pieces from Rogan for Target? Sorry, hand me my Alice Temperley for Target anyday….ecochic may be great but not in the collection I saw.

Oh Sweet Sweet Fresh Sugar Lemon

Fresh Sugar Lemon

Rating: 10/10 spritzes

Review: Great perfume for those who hate traditional overly floral or sweet perfumes. Very subtle sweet lemon scent. And no! it doesn’t smell like Pledge!

Trick: Buy the cheaper 1 oz size if you don’t wear perfume everyday and want to save the moolah for more beauty loot.

Packaging: Simple glass bottle with spritzer. Pretty box.

Fragrance: Fresh, sparkling citrus, and clean. Perfect summer scent.

Price: Expensive like most perfumes. $24.50 for 1 oz or $65 for 3.4 oz size.  Available at Sephora and at Beauty.com, Fresh.com and many other sites.

Product sisters: Haven’t found something exactly the same. But if you’re interested in similarly non-typical “clean” perfumes but aren’t into citrus, I would recommend Clean and Philosophy’s Grace.

Phyto Phytodefrisant

Phyto Phytodefresant

Phyto Phytodefrisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm

Rating: 9/10 hair flips

Review: Toss out that Frizz-Ease, girls. Besides a straightening iron, this is the best straightener/de-frizzing treatment I’ve found. The fact that it’s loaded with botanicals rather than any nasty chemicals definitely adds to the appeal. I use it on my coarse, perm-damaged (i.e. unpretty) hair and come out with a much sleeker result than with other similar products.

Trick: Need to apply, comb thru, and reapply for the sleekest look.

Packaging: Old school metal tube. Functional.

Fragrance: None. Zilch. Even the formula is a clear gel like substance.

Price: Do-able considering you don’t need that much to get the job done. $26 for 3.3 oz size at Sephora and at Beauty.com, Ariva.com and many other sites.

Product sisters: Frizz-Ease Hair Serum.
